I'm Promising I'm Changed Can't You See I'm Not the Same
tw: hints of child cruelty, child death
† Was born to a family in Shanton. His father owned a company of hired protection for mortals.
† He was trained to be a new hire from the time he could wield a blade. By the time he was sixteen, he was already going on jobs with his father.
† Their family seemed to continue to grow at a near constant rate. Eventually, his mother grew weak and passed with the birth of his youngest sister.
† His father seemed to remarry quickly, a woman taken in by the charms of a company that had grown quite prestigious with lucrative customers seeking their patronage.
† She's colder to the children, clearly finding them unsavory. The youngest dies under her care, and while the medics claim it was simply due to her frailty and loss of biological mother and lack of wet nurse, the rest of the family (save for their father) suspect the new wife as the true cause.
† Ali, becoming an adult, leaves their family home to the dismay of his siblings. Several more of them lose their lives and soon the family of ten is down to six. Each loss is dubbed of natural cause, but he begins to investigate the wife in more detail. Out from under her watchful gaze he is better equipped to find better leads.
† Another brother passes. His younger siblings turn their backs on him, assuming he had wholly abandoned him since he had escaped the yolk of their parent's domain. His investigation, however, had produced leads after all.
† Their step mother had been selling them to vampiric buyers, a way to gather more money and rid herself of the inconveniences of their father's prior marriage. Her buyers would then cover their traces, tampering with the evidence of the bodies.
† Tailing her following her taking of his eldest sister, he was able to save her, but unable to apprehend the vile woman herself. He also suffered great injury in the act, and the result changed him forever.
† In the wake of the truth being revealed, their father posted a bounty for his runaway wife. He temporarily closed the business as he and a close family friend tended to his son's hurts. The physician informed him then that Alistair had indeed crossed the threshold of the undead. Still knowing what he had become, their father cared not, claiming they could charge higher rates for their services now.
† The company reopened, and life has returned to the only level of normalcy that could be fathomed for the remainder of the Reigner family.
