RE: Dancers and Dolls - Avarice - 08-27-2022

Pinkish-blush-colored fabrics were released from pale digits as the curtsy came to an end following Ethels appraisal. While expression was difficult to come by for Avarice, it did not keep her cheeks from bashfully reddening after hearing the small praise. Though: it did not keep away those invisible, unheard whispers of disagreement either. It could be better; it was too sloppy. But such words only fell upon the albino’s ears while the music around them continued to bell and chime.

…Dancin’ is about tempo, patience and passion. Your body is an extension of the music around you. Cherry blossom pink eyes blinked, evidently dumbfounded by this piece of information. Lightly blemished features shifted downward as she looked to her hands, then her feet trying to comprehend Ethel’s explanation. Avarices’ thoughts moved more along a more literal standpoint – so she was at best utterly baffled. Feel the melody with your heart and play it with your feet. Listen to the keystrokes and how often they chime….

Her attention would lift back to Ethel, ushered to follow along her movements. The initial clap took the maiden off guard but after the second or third clap ( and a bit of hesitation ) Avarice complied. After Ethel clapped, she clapped. Lower lip curled inward, feeling the slight twinge of frustration realizing that she was a beat or two behind.

RE: Dancers and Dolls - Ethel - 01-14-2023

Ethel sensed the albino woman's frustration and couldn't help but wonder if it was birthed from the overwhelming of senses.  Though dim, the lights were many in number to add to the magical allure of the floor.  Music strummed from the elegant pluck of a piano key or the more delicate chime of a music box.  Not to mention the small sea of faces swaying to and fro with their instructors.  Ethel recalled the first time she'd walked into Lidget's and how it had unnerved her so until the madam herself beckoned the young girl inside.

"Ah, I see."  She murmured before reaching out for Avarice's pale hand.  "Come with me."

Should the young girl accept the invitation, Ethel would lead them past the chaos of the main dance hall and into a more secluded section of the building.  A dimly lit hallway housed two doors facing each other.  Ethel would motion towards the open one on the right which was large enough for two people to easily dance within.  There was a large mirror on the innermost wall - all of which were white - and a music box sat on a table close to the door.

"Are you familiar with belle qui tiens ma vie?"  An auburn brow piqued curiously.

‘All that we see or seem’,
‘Is but a dream within a dream.
