Long before mortals first began recording their history on stone tablets and cavern walls, the dark ones hunted their kin. Back then they had no name - no proper face. Only fear. Some believed them to be nothing more than a tale derived from a mad mind. As time went on, the population of the dark ones seemed to all but vanish. Reports of strange bodies found with bite marks were chalked up to beast attacks. Little did they know that the beasts were lurking, feasting upon them.

One coven, the Kaplan's, gradually grew to power over the course of many centuries. Every fledgling coven knew and respected the name. Others feared it and the strength behind it. More respectfully, they feared Émilienne Kaplan.

As far as vampires are concerned, it is rumoured that Émilienne is one of the elders. She being turned by the very first vampire and thus inheriting all knowledge of their race. After the murder of her eldest child, a plan was formulated between the red queen and the heads of various other covens. She would become the queen of the humans and then, their people would no longer cower in the shadows...

No one knows when lycanthropy first spread throughout the lands of Klewyth. None know who first bayed to the moon on that fateful night. Perhaps the secret of its original infection belongs to more... vindictive tongues. Regardless, the people began to fear the cycle of the moon and the horrors that woke when it was full.

One of the oldest packs in Klewyth belongs to one other than the head of Vufrien - lord Oliver Kürschner. He is a man that is well respected among the wolves though many fear that he is too kind to their neighbours that seek war.

After the murder of his son, Oliver's changes were sensed throughout the pack. He grew quiet in his grief; more vengeful than any wolf could have known. The pack reflected those changes, becoming closed to outside entry. Those who seek a place among the Kürschner will find it rather difficult to fall into their ranks.
